It is St. Patricks Day and to celebrate we are going to take a look at our 5 favourite Irish gaming characters, but we are not wearing green while we do it\u2026.that is a lie, I am wearing green right now but that is just a coincidence. Gaming is not exactly what Ireland is known for but it still made an influence across the industry in different ways. So, here are our top 5 Irish Gaming Characters.<\/p>

5. Shay Cormac - Assassins Creed<\/h3>Shay Patrick Cormac is an Assassin turned Templar who lived in the 1750's during the Seven Years War. Originally an Assassin, Shay grows disillusioned in the Assassin Order after some sort of botched assignment and eventually leaves the order, causing his former allies to become his enemies. Shay offers his services to the Templar Order, becoming an Assassin Hunter, which is the main mission in Assassin's Creed Rogue. Shay is the captain of a ship: The Morrigan, a top of the line Templar warship.<\/p>

4. William Adams - Nioh<\/h3>William Adams is the main protagonist of Nioh; growing up in a remote Irish village, he meets a guardian spirit called Saoirse who was born from human prayers. Saoirse saved him from death and now prevents him from dying and gifted him with the ability to see the normally invisible spirits. The character is based on a real Englishman of the same name, who was a sailor born in Kent in 1564.<\/p>

3. Sean McGuire - Red Dead Redemption 2<\/h3>Sean MacGuire is a recurring character in the Red Dead series, appearing as a supporting character in Red Dead Redemption 2 and as a stranger in Red Dead Online. Sean was born in Ireland, spending his early childhood there. Sean's father was Darragh MacGuire, an infamous Fenian outlaw who fled to America with Sean, before being hunted down and killed. I think Rockstar Games sum him up pretty well; \u201cA cocky young Irish thief and stick\u2010up man who comes from a long line of criminals and political dissidents. He always wants a piece of the action and believes in himself...perhaps a little too much.\u201d<\/em><\/p> <\/p> Moira is a support hero in Overwatch and Overwatch 2. A scientist with a thick accent and a high capacity for damage. Originally from Dublin, Moira O'Deorain made waves in the scientific community more than a decade prior to the events of the game, after publishing a controversial paper detailing a methodology for creating custom genetic programs that could alter DNA at a cellular level. Now she uses scientific prowess to both harm and heal, but as most Overwatch players will tell you for a support, she does a lot of damage.<\/p> <\/p> Nina Williams is a cold-blooded Irish professional assassin. Nina made her first appearance in Tekken, the original game in the series. Notably, Nina is one of the two playable characters (Paul Phoenix) and the sole female character to appear in all main instalments in the Tekken series. She also starred in her own spin-off game, Death by Degrees. Like most of the Tekken characters she has a weird and tangled past that includes near death experiences with her sister, Anna, being forced to undergo cryosleep, when she awoke Nina suffered amnesia\u2026oh, and also she had her eggs stolen while in cryosleep and was forced to have a biological son through in vitro fertilisation (her son is Steve Fox). All that aside, she is a cold-blooded, lethal and an all-round badass fighter.<\/p> <\/p> Not bad, some big Irish names there. What is even better is that their primary characteristic is not that they are alcoholics, take note SNL.
